What’s it Like to Get a Chemical Peel?

Woman having chemical peel

Fresh, younger looking skin is one of the primary benefits of a chemical peel. But before you decide to get one, you probably want to know what the process is like. The staff at Pennington Med Spa & Transformation Weight Loss Clinic wants you to feel completely comfortable before you make any decisions involving your skin. Here’s a step-by-step look at what it’s like to get a chemical peel.

Step 1: Cleaning your skin

Before the actual peel begins, we’ll deep clean your skin. This helps the chemicals reach your skin so you’ll get the best possible results.

Step 2: Applying solution

Next, we’ll apply the chemical peel solution to your face bit by bit  By concentrating on certain areas, we can create controlled targets, or places where we especially want to reveal new skin. While we use different chemical solutions for different peels, most contain either salicylic acid, carbolic acid, glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, or a combination.

Step 3: Peeling

After the solution has been applied, you may experience a tingling or burning sensation for a few minutes. Over the course of the next few days, your skin will begin to peel. Depending on the type of peel you get, this process will vary. You should expect to notice the effects for approximately three to seven days. Deeper applications may result in blistering and other, more serious side effects. Certain peels may require you to wear bandages.

Of course, you should always consult with a skin care professional about chemical peels before getting one. At Pennington Med Spa & Transformation Weight Loss Clinic, our staff will always do what’s best for your skin. Schedule a consultation to see how we can transform your skin!
